Tuneecu – Checking compatibility with your model of bike – How to

Tuneecu is an amazing motorbike diagnostic and tuning software for home mechanics and the trade. Covering numerous motorbikes to remap, read & reset fault codes, read live data and reset service lights.

But it can be confusing on what bikes are covered and the hardware you need to use with it.

Depending on the make, model, engine and year of your motorbike, Tuneecu requires various interfaces.

The main interfaces use a 16 pin OBD2 style plug. This is familiar among diagnostic systems on cars. However most motorbike manufacturers used their own smaller connectors. This is why you may need an adaptor to convert from standard 16 pin OBD2 to that particular bike. The exception to the rule was Triumph who started using the standard 16 pin diagnostic socket many years ago, so no adaptor was needed. However, in recent years motorbikes now also have their own international standard type of diagnostic socket called the Euro5. Triumph have also adopted this. These are supplied by Lonelec here

Tuneecu do not sell their own hardware/interfaces. They recommend suppliers to do this for customers. Lonelec are proudly one of those suppliers. Depending on your bike model/year, you will need either a USB cabled KKL interface or a bluetooth interface. In some cases both may be needed.

We supply them all.

Our KL-1 KKL USB Cable Interface is the only K-Line interface with a genuine FTDI chipset and a dedicated K & L line IC by STMicroelectronics. Everything else in the market is a very cheap unprotected import cable using a few cents worth of unknown brand transistors. Crazily many of these are sold at a higher cost than our UK manufactured KL-1 by simply placing a brand sticker on.

If you require a bluetooth interface we have a choice of two. Again, both recommended by Tuneecu.

We have the Bluescan II

or

the VGate Vlinker

We have followed the development of this software for many years and worked to provide not only the best hardware in the market but also the best customer service.

It’s very important to check what interface you need by using Tuneecu’s compatibility chart. You can find that here – click here

Find your bike model and then click on it.

A small information box will open up to the right detailing what interface and adaptor you may need and what systems it will cover.
